Join the new Dietitian and Nutritionist Regulatory Council
The Dietitian and Nutritionist Regulatory Council (DNRC) is the new governance structure that will oversee the profession’s regulatory functions relating to accreditation, skills recognition, credentialing and complaints.
The DNRC is responsible for ensuring practitioner safety and efficacy as described in the DNRC Terms of Reference.
Dietitians Australia is now seeking new Council members.
This is your chance to influence the governance of our profession's regulatory landscape.
The role of the DNRC
To strengthen our regulatory foundations and support operations independent of the Dietitians Australia Board, the DNRC will improve the governance of the profession’s regulatory obligations by allowing key regulatory functions to remain linked and responsive to strategic needs at a high level.
The DNRC will support individual regulatory functions to operate more efficiently, collectively, collaboratively and transparently.
Impact on your APD credential
There are no changes to the requirements of the APD credential. APDs will need to continue to meet the requirements as described in the APD Handbook, and agree to adhere to the profession’s Code of Conduct at the time of membership renewals.
From 2022, the DNRC will be responsible for governing the APD Program. We’ll let you know if there are any changes to APD program requirements.
Inclusion of term 'nutritionists'
To ensure the DNRC is not limited in its scope, and to support the Council in developing a responsive program of work that meets the regulatory needs of the profession, the term nutritionist was intentionally included.
All dietitians are nutritionists, and this language is consistent with the profession’s Constitution and the new Code of Conduct for Dietitians and Nutritionists.
Timing
Following the recruitment process, the DNRC will be effective from January 2022. It will take on the overarching governance responsibilities of the existing regulatory councils.
